Behind the Lens📷
Hey y’all!
My name is Mikayla Ashley. I have had pets my whole life, starting back to when I was a little girl. Growing up we had anything from hamsters, bunnies, dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, chickens, and even deer. I knew from the time I was a little girl, I wanted to work with animals because I have always loved them. From the time I was 12-years old, I have ridden horses and started training my own at just 14-years old. I got my childhood dream job working on a dude ranch in Montana the summer of 2018.
Where It All Began.
Fast forwarding to after marrying my best friend and having our first son, we had an amazing opportunity to visit Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park. That’s when my life really changed. I found my love for photography. I started with capturing wildlife and landscape, which ignited my academic career in Conservation and Ecology.
Finding my “why”.
After the passing of my Dad, I found that photography has been therapeutic, and it has given me a platform to be able to give people something that this world needs more of: light. In the darkness of grief, photography has been my light, and I want to shine that light to those needing memories captured with their pets.
